It’s hard when you’re starting out to give your writing the commitment and credence it deserves. After all, if you’re not making any money from it (yet) then you have to be very strong willed to put writing at the top of your to-do-list. If you absolutely love writing and when you indulge in your passion it feels like you’re being really selfish – everything else (kids, husband, pets, friends, housework etc.) falls by the wayside. And until you finish something (e.g. a novel) and it’s financially viable – can you justify spending endless days not earning money? You wish you could, but this is the real world and between working, family life, or running a business, there’s little time left for anything except sleep!
